A treatment lasts approximately one hour, with self-help suggestions given at the end of the session. It does not involve massage or manipulation of muscles or bones. The practitioner places her fingertips over clothing on designated points, which harmonizes and restores the energy flow and reduces the effects of stress and tension that accumulate in the body through injury or normal daily living.
The Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner designs each unique treatment by listening to the pulses. These tell of the five depth needs. (Jin Shin teaches that a human being consists of five interrelated levels of energies, each with its own function.) She also uses body reading in order to design a treatment specific to the individual for that day.
The most common experience of Jin Shin is a feeling of deep relaxation and peace on every level. Jin Shin can also be applied as self-help, and at each session the practitioner will give a practice that can be done at home.
The process of receiving Jin Shin Jyutusu reconnects us to ourselves. It helps us to tune into, interpret and utilize our body's messages. We recognize the graceful wisdom of our body and our ability to reestablish its natural harmony.
