Jin Shin Jyutsu was widely known in Japan in early times, where it was used by many for healing. This wisdom gradually disappeared from daily living until the early 1900's, when Master Jiro Murai, a Japanese sage rediscovered it. He spent many years studying through practice, and the resulting knowledge was then given to his student Mary Burmeister, an American living in Japan. Since then, her students have helped other students, and the Jin Shin Jyutsu community has spread throughout the world.
The name Jin Shin Jyutsu means "The Art of the Creator through the person of compassion." This hands on Japanese healing art, shares its roots with modalities like acupuncture and acupressure. Through gentle touch, energetic pathways (or meridians) are cleared of blockages, thus enabling our life force energy to move freely. Jin Shin Jyutsu works to strengthen the immune system and deeply relax the body, thereby allowing healing and balance to occur on every level. It can also serve as a helpful adjunct to many other modalities including Western medicine.
